Government Seizue of
Historic Midway Property

ISSUE

Misappropriation of restored historic property by local city government in Midway, Ky.

POSITION

Support reinstatement of the property to the non-profit organization

A non profit organization was formed in Midway, Kentucky for the purposes of establishing The Midway Railroad Museum. A dilapidated building on Main St. was identified and purchased. Grant funds were obtained for restoration. The restoration was made. When the building was completely restored and suitable for occupancy, the Midway City Council appropriated the building for use as a new city hall, in violation of the conditions of the grant money used to restore the building. The Midway Railroad Museum organization is now attempting to find a temporary home in nearby Versailles, until it can be re-established in Midway.

The Concerned Members support the reinstatement of the restored building to the Midway Railroad Museum and to the non profit organization responsible for restoration of its building.
