Hiring of new Executive Director of Kentucky History Center
POSITION
Watch
In the reorganization of state government under Gov. Ernie Fletcher, who also acts as Chancellor of the Kentucky Historical
Society, Kent Whitworth was named executive director of the History Center. Mr Wentworth’s experience has been limited,
was out of state, lacked historical credentials, and did not appear to support his appointment. In initial meetings with Concerned
Members, the executive director selectively obstructed members’ desire to address certain concerns of the members. Mr.
Wentworth’s ability to fulfill the duties of executive director fell into question.
The Concerned Members have adopted a Watch position regarding Kent Whitworth. It’s been noted that, as a young man,
he has been given an extraordinary opportunity to prove himself and his adequacy. He can certainly be groomed to meet the
expectations of the board of directors, and hopefully of the members, too.
