As Concerned Members of the Kentucky Historical Society, our purpose is stated in
Our Mission.
Our interest arose over the fact that by-laws of the Kentucky Historical Society do not provide for adequate democratic
process that includes representational participation by members of the Society.
Moreover, although the Society is a private non-profit corporation, its presiding officer is the governor of the
State of Kentucky. As such, the Society is subject to repeated political reformations by succeeding administrations,
whose objectives & policies may not always be aligned with the interests of the members of the Society.
Additionally, the apparent inherent conflict in the operations of The Kentucky Historical Society, both as a private
non-profit corporation & simultaneously as a government operated entity, places the Society's by-laws in conflict with
state statutes, & positions the Society itself at risk for lawful violations.
To this effect, the Concerned Members of the Kentucky Historical Society organized to effect remedies that provide
lawful compliance together with adequacy & stability of public service by the Society, to insure the highest
levels of communication & service among members, interested parties, & the governing bodies, in service to the goals
& objectives of The Kentucky Historical Society.
